went over the treasurer’s report that he handed out.
Jay said we now have Quickbooks 2010 to balance the
books.
Contact
Jay about ordering Mercury props, oil, or Quicklean.
$1,896.00 was deposited from the Poker Tournament.
A
motion was made to accept the treasurers report by
Paul Wagner and seconded by
Lupe Reyes.
The motion passed unanimous.
Scholarship Report:
Jay
Berwick
$600.00
will be awarded to Jay Schaffer as voted on at the
February Presidents meeting.
( This was an additional
scholarship due to an oversight)
Classic Series Report:
Larry Gargus
Larry reported that 2 of the 4
Classic Series tournaments were sponsored (
State Championship:
Muskegon will donate $500.00 for
the State Championship.
The funds will come from the Muskegon Tourist
Bureau.
The launch fees will be
waived starting the Saturday before the State Championship through the last
tournament day.
The M.B.F.N. will provide cards to
put in our windshields for the waiver of the launch fees.
We did present to the
Presidents meeting to make
the “big bass” jackpot separate (optional) from the entry fee. This would cost
an additional
$20.00 per person for the 2-day
event.
The State Championship entry fee would remain @ $100.00 per
person with the
$20.00 (optional) “big bass”
jackpot.
It was also discussed about how we will approach the “no”
dropping for the
State Championship. It was agreed
that a lure must be attached to the bottom of your line.
The lure “must” have a
hook that has been bent over.
We still need to choose a location for the
Banquet/pairings meeting for the State Championship.
Membership:

Clubs must have 100% National B.A.S.S. membership.
Newsletter:
Tom Boland
Tom is waiting on
information from Team Bass, Houghton Lake, and the Sterling Heights Bass
Anglers. Tom is also waiting on some information from a few advertisers’.
Youth: Barry Narrin /Tom Boland
Barry asked the board for $400.00
extra to be paid out in gift cards for the Junior State Champions.
Barry also announced that he currently has (4)
applications for youth events.
Barry will need a story and pictures within 30 days
AFTER an
event. The clubs that will be holding youth events are Team Bass, Calhoun
County, and Lake Nepessing will be holding (2) events.
$450.00 was awarded to Paul Wagners club for youth
projects.
$300.00 was awarded to
Bass Pro Shops in Auburn Hills
from 12:00-2:00PM.
The deadline for Junior State Championship
applications will be July 1, 2010. This will be held on July 17,2010 on Cass
Lake in Waterford.

Paul announced that the $5,000.00
check for the dealership buying the Triton 2009 Boat will be sent to us by April
15th.
Triton said they would honor the 2009 contract in
2010.
The Skeeter State Team Divisional
ZX190 boat has been sold.
Camille presented the board with
free super pizzas from Passport Pizza.
These will be raffled off at the Classic Series
championship tournament.
We have also been informed by Mercury that we will
not be able to sell oil to the public at the boat shows. Wilson Marine sent a
complaint to Mercury and this will take effect immediately.
Conservation:
Mark Brantmeyer
Mark announced that the MDNR is
looking a volunteer to sit on a Lake Erie & Lake St. Clair fishery advisory
board.
Gary Emerson will sit on this board.
The E.P.A. wants to increase the ethanol content in
gasoline from 10% to 15%.
Prints for the Lake
** Major Rick Briggs spoke
at the meeting about the upcoming veteran’s tournament and he is still in need
of approximately 15-20 boats. This is June 12,2010 at Kent lake.
** A vote was taken by the
presidents for the “Angler Code of Conduct”.
The vote went as follows:
(20) yes, (0) no and (1) abstain.

Sacks told the presidents that the Northern Divisional will be in

Sacks told all of the presidents that if they have anything they would like to

October 24, 2010 at Bass Pro Shops in Auburn Hills,
Mi.
** Awards were passed out
from the Bassmaster Classic online contest. A fury prop,$50 gift card and a case
of Merc oil.

The presidents were informed that we were currently
looking into changing our adult status to 501 (c) (3) from 501 (c) (7).
We are also looking to make the youth and
conservation 501 (c) (3) for fund raising purposes.
The 50/50 raffle took in
$130 total and $65 was won by Camille Delikta.
A

Scholarship Report:

Jay reported that
2-scholarships applications were misplaced and found after the other
scholarships were awarded.
They
were from John Gibson Jr. and Jay Schaffer.
A coin was flipped to determine who would get the
Scholarship between the 2 applicants.
John Gibson Jr. won the coin toss.
He was awarded $600.00. To be fair to Jay Schaffer
misplaced application Pres Sacks asked for a motion to also present Mr. Schaffer
the same award.
A
motion was made by Bill Head and second by Paul Wagner to award $600.00 to Jay
Schaffer from the general fund.
The motion passed -unanimously.
Larry
handed out the flyers for the upcoming 2010 Classic Series tournaments.
Larry noted that the only changes to the Classic
Series rules from 2009 was, the dead fish penalty
will now be 8 ounces each and that any big bass
State Championship:
A roll call vote was taken by
all presidents and board members present to determine the lake for the upcoming
State Championship.
The lakes that were voted on are as follows:
Muskegon Lake, Grand River, Hamlin Lake, and Grand

that sent 6 or more adult members to work the casting kids events at the shows
would receive a $50.00 check from the federation. You must contact Barry Narrin
should you want to apply for the CastingKids.

Paul
announced that we are trying to sell the 2009 Triton boat to a dealer and we
should make a $5,000.00 profit from its sale.
Paul also announced that we will no longer get a
boat from Triton but will instead receive a $5,000.00 check.
The code is: Available through your Club President or the Michigan Bass Federation President Paul Sacks.

Each member may order up to
$2,500 in product per year. Multiple orders are OK . Cut off date is December

Jason told the presidents on some of the launch
permit changes for 2010.
**Dave Decker talked to the
presidents about the Michigan Bass Invitational. The event will be held
September 19,
2010
at Harley Ensign.
Entry club Fee is $125.00.
Clubs teams
can
send a maximum of 4 boats
(8) members to the event.

from Bass Pro Shops spoke and told the presidents that they were offering 10%
off for a
1-time service by April 1st. There repair shop
has experienced mechanics to service our members.

December 6, 2009 Held at American Legion Hall
Called to order at 1:23PM Mason, Mi.

Treasurers’ Report: Jay Berwick
Jay reported that the Toyota truck and Skeeter I-Class boat were both sold. He also reported that the board has found a C.P.A. that will cost the federation $450.00. Jay handed out a breakdown of the treasurers report and discussed the figures. Checks were given to the scholarship fund by 3 different clubs. They were as follows: $200.00 by Lake Neppesing, $200.00 by Michigan Bass Busters, and $140.00 by Avid Bass Anglers. Pres. Sacks told the Presidents that the money earned from the sale of the Skeeter I-Class was put into a money market account. Paul also asked the presidents for advice on a higher yield interest accounts that would also be safe. Please ask if any of your members can
provide the board with financial help.
A motion was made to accept the treasurers report by Bill Geach and was second by Brian Masters, this passed unanimous.
Scholarship Report: Jay Berwick
Jay reported that 4-scholarships were awarded. They were each awarded $600.00. The scholarship awards went out to:
Allison Berwick (Michigan Bass Busters), Emily Head (Michigan Bass Busters), Michael Impellizeri (Michigan Bass
Masters, and Michael Mize II (Anglers Unlimited). Clubs present to hand out awards were Alpena Bass Club and
The Bass Chasers of Shiawassee.
Classic Series Report: Larry Gargus
Larry informed the presidents that the classic series dates are June 6th, July 11th, August 29th, and September 12th 2010. All of the lakes are TBD at this time with more information to come at the February meeting. Larry is looking into new sponsors and prizes for this year.
State Championship:
Pres. Sacks discussed the problems we are having for finding a place to hold the state championship. The current dates
of July 22-25 causes problems if Muskegon Lake is chose due to a 3000 person biker poker run and as of the meeting
no feedback was given from the State Park in Ludington on Hamlin Lake. A roll call vote was take to change the date
of the state championship from July 22-25 to July 15-18 or September 23-26. The roll call vote was as follows: 20 voted
for the September date and 15 voted for the "new" July date. No lake was picked at the meeting due the amount of time
it took for discussing the date change. A lake will be announced at the February Presidents meeting.
Membership: Sharon Leonardi
Sharon told the presidents that BASS has raised their fee to 30 dollars a member and that at the state level we will not be changing our fee of $25.00. One change that the state will be making is that there will no longer be an additional change for belonging to multiple clubs; you will pay only for the first club. Sharon informed the presidents that this year there will be a late charge of 5 dollars a member who was on the 2009 club roster turned in after April 15th. To be a current member you must be a state, national, and a bassmaster member. Sharon was collecting membership rosters for the up and coming year at the meeting.
Newsletter: Tom Boland
Tom announced that the next newsletter was ready to go to print on December 9, 2009. Members should start receiving
the next edition shortly after the first of the year. Tom also announced that the cut-off date for the next newsletter was
the February Presidents meeting.
Youth: Tom Boland
Tom announced the new format for the Casting for Kids contest that we will hold this year. The age groups will be 7-10 & 11-14 with any children under the age of 7 will be able to compete in a bean bag toss. He also announced that the
"pitching" station would be eliminated to make it easier for the younger CK. Tom also announced that the board
approved $2,000.00 for youth projects. Clubs will be awarded up to $250.00 for starting a new youth club. The breakdown for new youth clubs will be as follows: 6-members $150.00, 8-members $200.00, and 10 or more members $250.00.
A motion was made by Dave McGlaughlin and 2nd by Mike Mize to take a roll call vote to determine the date for the Junior state championship. The vote was for keeping the date of July 17 or changing it to July 24. The roll call vote was 20 to keep the July 17 date and 15 to change the date to July 24.
Boat Shows: Pres. Sacks
Paul informed everyone that there will be only three boat shows this year:
January 7 – 10 2010 Ultimate Fishing Show (Novi)
February 25 – 28 2010 Outdoorama (Novi)
March 18 – 21 2010 Ultimate Fishing Show (Grand Rapids)

Opti Oil will be $22.00 /gal or $60.00 /case ($25.00 /gal or $65/ case at the shows for nonmembers),
and an 12oz. bottle of "QuickKlean" would be $8.00 each. for members ( non members $9.00 or 3/$25.) Paul also announced the Berkley program this year and federation members can receive a 30% discount on products on websites for: Berkley, Abu Garcia, Fenwick Fishing, Stren, and Spiderwire. There is a code that has to be used and is case sensitive. The code is:

meeting.

** Pres. Sacks announced the Veterans Tournament will be June 12, 2010 at Kent Lake.
**Pres. Sacks told the presidents that the Northern Divisional will be in Escanaba, Mich. on August 9 – 15, 2010.

Treasurers’ Report: Jay Berwick
Jay informed the presidents that he will have a full detailed report at the December meeting. He told everyone that we opened a third account just for the raffle and when the CPA is done going over the raffle we will transfer the balance to the general fund. Jay informed the presidents that we have sold the truck and still need to sell the boat. Paul Sacks awarded Calhoun County Bass Club a check for 500 dollars for selling the winning ticket. A motion was made to accept the treasurers report by Mike Kujawski and was second by Tony Impellizeri, this passed unanimous.
Classic Series Report: Larry Gargus

He told the presidents that he had 85 members fish the classic last year. The series paid back over 140% in cash and prizes. The highest paying trail in Michigan.
State Championship:
Pres. Paul told the presidents that the date for the fish-off is July 22-25 2010 and the lake will be announced at the December meeting. Pres. Paul asked the presidents for their input on some lakes on the west side of the state.
Hamlin- Coldwater chain and Muskegon were reviewed.

Newsletter: Tom Boland
Tom has some great stuff for the newsletter and is waiting till Paul comes back from nationals for any additional information and will get the newsletter out within weeks after that. We are not going to do a show edition, but rather a do a pamphlet to save money. Tom is looking for and always looking for articles and pictures from the presidents and/or from anyone in their club that would like to have an article published, if you have something you would like to see please get it to Tom right away.
Youth: Barry Narrin
Barry told the president that casting kids nationally is over the way we know it, and that it is now an education program rather than hands on, but we will continue running a form of casting kids in the state (more to come on this at the December meeting). Barry will be putting a committee together to discuss how we want to run this program for our state. Gerry Gostenik will be giving a guided trip to each of our State CK winners. We are going to still awarding $50 to the clubs for each Casting Kids contest they work at the boat shows. We are accepting applications for the youth projects right now, just remember that this is for reimbursement and I will need a report and pictures to receive any funding.
Boat Shows: Paul Sacks
Paul informed everyone that there will be only three boat shows this year:
January 7 – 10 2010 Ultimate Fishing Show (Novi)
February 25 – 28 2010 Outdoorama (Novi)
March 18 – 21 2010 Ultimate Fishing Show (Grand Rapids)
We need clubs to step up and run casting kids at each of the shows. Clubs are welcome to work our booth for new members.

Pres. Paul is working on some new sponsors, also if you know of any or have any leads on any please contact him with that information. There is still bonus money for Triton, Skeeter, and Nitro owners and Toyota owners.

Mark showed the president’s the release bags that he got from Berkley and informed them how they can order some for their clubs.
Nominations:
There were four seats open this year and Pres. Sacks opened the nominations to the floor. There were four people nominated: Barry Narrin, Paul Sacks, Mike Kujawski, and Jay Berwick. With four open seats and only four people nominated, there was no need to vote. A motion to accept all four to the board was made by Tom Boland and second by Sharon Leonardi, this passed unanimous.
**Pres. Sacks told the presidents that we do not have any fundraisers planned for now except the Outdoorama Trout pond.
**Pres. Sacks informed the presidents that the truck has been sold and we took in around 27,000 dollars, but we still need to sell the boat. The board voted to reduce the price of the boat to 35,000 dollars or best offer. The state team also has a ZX190 boat for sale that they won at divisional.
**Pres. Sacks informed the presidents of the new BFN logos that are coming soon.
**Pres. Sacks told the presidents that national will be in Escanaba, Mich. on August 9 – 15 2010.
**Pres. Sacks told all of the presidents that the BFN champion gets a guaranteed spot in the elite and guaranteed early entry in to the opens. Also the divisional winner gets a guaranteed spot in the opens. He told the presidents that everybody in the BFN gets priority entry in the marshal program for the elite series and opens.
**Pres. Sacks told all of the presidents that if they have anything they would like to see on the agenda to inform him at least two weeks before the meeting.
**The 50/50 raffle was worth $65 dollars and was won by Barry Narrin. Special 50/50 prizes were also presented.
