Welcome, Federation Nation B.A.S.S. Clubs:

It’s that time again, to fish for our dream. The Michigan B.A.S.S. Chapter Federation State Championship is the first step leading all the way to a spot in the BassMasters Classic. " Fishing as one of the Pros. "

Our board would like to wish every angler the "Best of Luck "

This letter is to serve as your clubs official notification of eligibility to the 2008 State Championship to be held August 21 (Banquet and Registration day), August 22 & 23 (Actual Tournament Days) and August 24 (as the alternate weather day).

It is the responsibility of the club presidents to ensure that their members fishing receive this information. Complete rules for the State Championship are also contained on the MBCF web site on-line at http://www.michiganbass.net

We will continue having early check-ins available for anglers this year. We will have tables set up at a Banquet Hall on Thursday, August 21 for members to sign in. The location, times and dates will be included in everyone’s confirmation packets.

Remember to inform your anglers that this year, the tournament will again be a mandatory two-day event again. Anglers leaving after day one (unless a verifiable emergency) will not be allowed to fish the 2009 State Championship.

The participants that your club can send to the tournament is based on the MBCF membership club roster as of the June 1st of 2008.

All anglers on your roster at that time are eligible this year. Your club may choose who may attend.

This year, the licenses required will only be a Michigan Fishing License. At this time, fishing boundaries are not limited this year, other than as spelled out by the Michigan license. The only off limits will be on the second day of the tournament around the immediate launch area and the fish release area.

Registration is $100 per angler, which includes big bass, one meal for the banquet and one meal for the Bar-B-Q. Checks for registration fees should be made payable to Michigan BASS Chapter Federation, or MBCF. Should participants wish to bring additional people to the banquet/picnic, the cost will be $20.00 for each additional person. The number of people above event participants attending the banquet along with a separate check made payable to MBCF should be included with the original registration.

Completed entry forms must be postmarked by July 31, 2008. Any applications postmarked after this date will not be considered timely for participation and will be returned. Applications received that do not have all the required information, which includes proper proof of insurance for each boater and alternate boater will not be considered complete. This year, if you do not complete the entry forms completely and correctly as requested and submit current Proof of Insurance for Boaters and Alternate Boaters, your club will not be allowed to compete, SO BE SURE YOU DO THEM RIGHT!!

Refunds of registration/entry fees will NOT be granted for any reason after the registration deadline (July 31, 2008). Clubs will be allowed to make changes in participants on their roster (provided the replacements were on the clubs roster by June 1st, 2008) at the Captain's Meeting. Changes in anglers fishing for the club awards will be permitted at the Captain's meeting as well. Don't forget that should your club have one or more anglers not able to fish, your club remains responsible for the 50%-50% boater/rider rule.

Club’s can designate up to five people who will be fishing for the ‘club awards’. Changes in anglers fishing as the ‘club team’ will be allowed up to the Captains meeting. No changes in names will be allowed between days one and two. A club team form will be given to each Captain at the Captains meeting. This completed form must be turned in at the close of the Weigh-in on day 2.

When arriving on tournament morning, DO NOT go to launch ramps. Check-in will be done in the parking lot staging area, Located in the main parking lot at the park. DO NOT GO DOWN TO THE RAMP AREA. ALL BOATS WILL BE SENT DOWN AFTER LIVEWELL CHECKS. At the pre-tournament meeting on Thursday, you will be directed to a lot based on which flight you are in.
