Called to order 1:01 p.m.
Observed a moment of silence in memory of
Vice President Dave Dienes who passed away this summer.
Roll Call:
22 clubs present
Reviewed April’s Presidents’ Meeting minutes.
Motion to accept minutes by Mike Kujawski, 2nd by Jerry Overton. Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report: Doug Hedberg
- There is a handout on file. ( available to
Pres upon request)

State Championship: Paul Sacks
- Good turnout on Saginaw Bay. The 2007
Northern Division is August 12 -17 Vermillion on Lake Erie. The 2008
Northern Division is set in Wisconsin. and the 2009 Northern Division will
be held in Michigan.
- For 2007 we are looking for lake
suggestions. The Presidents were polled and the majority preferred
Charlevoix.
Scott Moody of Bass Pro Shops discussed several
new items at the store.
Classic Series Report: Mike O’Rourke
- Trying to collect $2000.00 from Muskegon.
Payout extra $4000.00 from the Muskegon tournaments. This is money collected
for the classic that was not held.
- Resuming classic series format - 4
tournaments on 2 weekends - June 2 & 3 and August 4&5, 2007.
- Team - draw format. Entry fee reduced 50% -
$100.00 per team per day. 100% payback.
- No Championship this year. Mike Kujawski
suggested coordinating with the BASS Wolverine tournaments - they are on
Sunday only. There were some objections about a draw format. These
suggestions will be reviewed.
Lou Borer Scholarship Fund: Paul Sacks
- There are 10 qualified applicants. Committee
will meet soon to reward scholarships.
Shimano offers a scholarship. BASS Conservation
Scholarship. Information on our Fed. web site. This has 6 $2000 undergraduate
scholarships and 1 $5000 graduate scholarship for natural resources management.
Newsletter: Paul Wagner
- Mailed out October Bass Lines. January will
be full color magazine. Looking for advertising and content. Quarterly
publication. Deadline is December 1st.
Membership: Paul Wagner
- Passed out rosters. Please make corrections
and resubmit. BASS - Need at least 2 club members to handle roster on
line. System should be active November 1st.
Raffle Ticket: Doug Hedberg
- Incentive checks will be out no later than
the next presidents’ meeting.
- Estimate $6500 profit. Ranger boat contract
is not available. We are making proposals to other boat companies.
Youth Activities: Doug Hedberg
- Looking for Co-director. Ron needs help.
Looking for a club to host the Junior State Championship.
Bass Club World Championship:
6 teams consisting of 6 members can fish.
CORRECTION NEW DATE Aug 7-10,2007 New location Sandusky Bay – Sandusky ,
Ohio.
Entry fee for the regional is $1500. No
national entry fee if you advance. The national tournament is October 8 -
13. Location TBA Teams should apply. We will draw teams.
Should more than 6 clubs form.
Northern Divisional:
- The Michigan team finished 2nd at the
Northern Division. Every Michigan angler caught a limit all 3 days. This may
be a first in Reg, history. Scott Lakey advanced to the National
Championship. Scott will fish the Southern Open Tournaments as a Pro.
Elite Series:
- 3 spots for each state. $750 entry fee to be
a rider. Get entry fee to Paul Sacks by 11/15.We will draw for the 3 spots.

Our Federation is looking for a Conservation
Director and a Newsletter Editor.

Elections:
- 4 positions up for renewal - Jay Berwick,
Doug Hedberg, Paul Sacks, and Mark Smith.
- There are 3 additional positions opened:
Dennis Beltz, 2 year term, Dave Harmon, 2 year term, and Dave Dienes, 1 year
term.
- The only nomination letter received by July
1st was for Jay Berwick and Paul Sacks. They automatically are elected. Took
floor nominations for the other 5 positions. The additional new board
members are: Barry Narrin of Maximum Bass (3 years), Tom Bowland Bass
Chasers (3 years), Mike Kujawski Sterling Heights (2 years), Sharon Leonardi
MI Bassin’ Bums and Babes, and Larry Gargus Lake Nepessing (1 year).
Dues must be paid at the December meeting, $25
per member.
Larry Leonardi won $75 in the 50/50 drawing.

Special board meeting called to order 2:50 p.m.
to elect officers.
Nominations were taken for President, Vice
President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

December 3, 2006 at Bass Pro Shops
Called to order at 1:15 PM
A presentation of new products sold by Bass
Pro Shops was given by Scott Moody.

Treasurers’ Report:
Jay Berwick
- Jay is in the mist of learning the
accounting program and also is taking care of all outstanding invoices.
There will be $2,250 in interest will be awarded in scholarships .
- 9 awards were granted.
- Account funds available upon request of Club
Pres.
- There was $3,950 paid out for the raffle
tickets that were sold and Michigan Bass Busters won the $500 incentive
bonus
- Berrien Bass Busters sold the winning
ticket, but South Central Michigan Bass Casters had sold the most tickets.
- A check for $1,500 was made out to Scott
Lakey to cover the expenses at nationals.
- Scott also gave a short talk about how great
the team was at divisional and with each other.

Classic Series Report:
Mike O’Rourke
- Mike let the presidents know that the
winners from last year will receive additional funds.
- Mike let the presidents know that the lakes
are going to be Lake Charlevoix on June 2nd and 3rd
and then on Wixom Lake August 4th and 5th. This will
be for Federation members only and will also be a team/draw (team)
tournament. Mike is looking for some sponsors, so anyone that can help
please contact Mike. The entry fee will be $50 a man per day and there will
be more info and a entry form in the Basslines.
State Championship:
Paul Wagner
- The presidents were given a choice and voted
between Lake Charlevoix and Lake St. Clair: and Lake St. Clair was voted to
be the lake we will fish the state championship on. The dates for the
tournament will be August 23rd thru 25th with the 26th
as the blow over day.
Web Site:
Paul Wagner
- Paul has cleaned up the web site and forum,
also is checking into updating the software to prevent further forum
violations. He is looking to add a calendar so that the clubs can not only
be informed of dates, but may also add dates that they may want all to know.
Please have all your members register on the new site soon.
- Paul informed the presidents of BASS new
online club roster and how to access it and who in each club can access it.
Newsletter:
Paul Wagner
- Coming along good and looking for new
articles with graphics, so send in any info that you may want published, he
is also looking to fill more adds, so if you have any leads please contact
Paul.
Youth State Championship:
Barry Narrin
- We are looking for clubs to step up and help
run casting kids and the boat show coming up, we are running 3 at each show
and there are 3 shows.
- We are also looking for a club to head it up
– the club that volunteers will get to a chance to choose the lake and the
date.
Boat Auction:
Ray Schmitt
- We only had 11 clubs sell tickets last year
and only 3 clubs really sold a good number of tickets for us and it gave a
small profit, so this year we are going to have a boat auction to make a
better profit to help with our youth projects. There will be bid forms are
all of the boat shows and in your bass lines. This will be held on March 25
2006 in Memphis, Michigan. Members can bring any sporting goods to the
auction for a small fee. The top ten bidders will be notified and told to
bring with them and deposit. The cut off date for mail-in bids will be March
18 2006. The admission to the auction is free and there is no buyer’s

Conservation: ? (Still in need of a conservation
officer)
- We are putting together water weigh-in
system information for a grant that we can apply for thru BASS.
- Ron Spitler asked the presidents that with
the early catch and release season if there was a reduced number of a
tournament.
Membership:
Paul Sacks
- All clubs will need to be 100% B.A.S.S.
members now. Paul Wagner will explain to the presidents how the new BASS web
site works and how to log into it.
- Paul Sacks inform the clubs that we are
putting together a member’s benefit packet, so that our member may know all
the benefits that they get by being a member of the Michigan Bass
Federation. He also informed the presidents of the guaranteed three slots
that are available to us for the elite series
- Michigan Bass Busters donated $200.00 to the
Scholarship fund.

February 03, 2007 Held at Bass Pro Shops
Called to order at 1:06PM

Scott Lakey attended and gave us an update of his
tournament at The Federation Championship in Alabama. He said that BASS treated
each of them as if they were pros and this was the classic.
Paul Sacks went over the new mission statement
with the presidents and it was well received. Our mission statement will be
posted on the web soon. Paul also informed the presidents of the Skeeter
contract and the Lowrance contract, he also went over the benefits that go with
them. We have signed the contract with Minn Kota and have 12 motors for
discounted sale to the first 12 to contact Paul Sacks. He informed the
presidents that they needed to go to the Bass web to update their on-line
rosters.
Treasurers’ Report:
Jay Berwick
- There was $2250 in interest that was given
out in the scholarship checks.
- The General fund has $52,077.70 The
Scholarship fund has $64000.00
- BASS sent a check for $900 to help the
casting kids’ contenders with the expenses; Michigan Bass also added $300 on
top of the $900. BASS also sent $$1100 to help JWC contenders with the
expenses. 2006 state championship bills are all in and done. There was a
check for $50 donated to the scholarship fund from Bass Chasers of
Shiawassee.

Classic Series Report:

- The president were reminded that this will
be for Federation members only and will also be a team tournament the first
day and team/draw (team) tournament the second day. Mike let the presidents
know that the lakes are going to be Lake Charlevoix on June 2nd
and 3rd and Wixom Lake August 4th and 5th.
The payout for the classic will be 100% and with a few more sponsors it will
be over that. We are trying to put together a prize pack for AOY, big bass,
and for the bass club that has the most entries. Clubs are welcome to use
this as a club tournament. We could tract the results per club.
State Championship:

- The presidents were informed that the dates
for the tournament are August 23rd thru the 25th with
the 26th as the blow over day. We are working on the meeting
place for the mandatory Thursday night meeting. We were informed that Little
Bill of Little Bills Trophies will be the Weigh Master and that the sponsor
are all stepping up for this one.
Members Benefit Book:

- Paul showed the presidents an example of the
new members benefit booklet that will be copied in disk form and given to
the presidents to follow up with their individual club members.
VHS: Pres.
Sacks
- Paul updated us on the virus and the new
Federal law about transporting LIVE fish from Canadian waters. He also told
us that BASS is working on this and is hoping to have it resolved before our
season starts.
Youth State Championship:

- We are looking for clubs to step up and help
run casting kids and the Grand Rapids boat show coming up, we are running 2
on Saturday and 1 on Sunday. We ask the presidents will youth clubs to try
to get their roosters in ASAP. If any club has a youth project they can
submit a youth form for some financial assistants. New forms and guidelines
will be posted soon. The deadline date will now be May 30 each year. If you
have any questions on any of these items please contact Barry Narrin.

- Dave Fogleman informed everyone that his
club will be running the kids state championship and it will be July 1st
on Kent Lake with more information to come later. They are trying to have TV
coverage. Our goal is to back this as professional event that we can. Nation
Youth Director Stacy Twiggs is due to attend. If wish to help with this
Youth tournament let us know.
Boat Auction:
Ray Schmitt
- We have bids coming in on the boat already,
so if you do not have yours in please place it now. We are asking for the
clubs to please not only bring things to auction, but to also attend and
show your support. If you have any questions please contact Ray Schmitt.
- Any sport items can be brought on the
auction day. Clubs can use this as another fund raiser.

- There are new Fed. Nation State patches for
sale, for more information or to purchase some please contact Paul Sacks.

Pres. Sacks informed the clubs updates from the
presidents meeting he attended at nationals. He told us that not only could he
see how BASS is stepping up for us, but now knows how important we are to them.
- The new AD&D insurance only is good for
traveling to, during, and traveling back from any club function.
- He informed the clubs of the planned payout
for the WCBC 6-man team tournaments.
- He told of the new program that BASS has
called "drive the nation" and how the federation could win a new truck.
- All federation members are eligible for a
free membership to the ABA in 2007.
The President’s were informed by Larry Leonardi
that the new by-laws will be ready around October. There was also a new by-law
brought forward by Larry Leonardi that would waive the late fee for a club to
come back for this year only. This will be voted on at the April presidents
meeting.
NEW BY-LAW
"We the members of the board of directors of the
Michigan Bass Federation Nation propose that the by-law section iv DUES letter A
be amended for the 2007 season only by deleting the last sentence which
currently reads "if dues are not paid by the December presidents meeting there
will be a five ($5.00) dollar late charge per each late existing member."
This vote will be taken at Pres meeting at BPS on
April 1, 2007
Pres. Sacks asked the Presidents for nominations
to fill Ron Guilfoil removed position until the October meeting, when the
position would be nominated and voted on.
No nomination came forward.

Presidents’ Meeting
April 01, 2007
Called to order at 1:10PM

GUESTS:
Dylan Mathis came in and talked about how he
enjoyed his experience fishing the JWC and how that he got to fish with Aaron
Martins. He told us that he finishes first for the northern division for his age
group and for that he received a $2000 scholarship and a trophy. His father also
said the BASS treated them and all of the contestants like they were the pros.
Michael Lipinski informed the presidents of his
trip for the divisional casting kids’ competition. He told of how fun and
exciting it was for him and his family to be there and to meet Ray Scott. He
also said how great it was to meet other contenders from around the country.
Jason Flemming was there to inform the presidents
of the new permit process and which lakes are required for a pay permit. It was
also told the even if the booth at the launch is unattended that you are still
required to have a parking permit. They are also setting up the permit process
do enter in electronically and you will be able to enter them in November
instead of waiting till January. You may now apply for a permit for free fishing
weekend and holiday weekends, they will be look at from site to site. Also for
one time large events you may still need to pull a permit even on lake that does
not require one.

Dave came in to give the presidents the
information about "take me fishing" program and "TheAnglers Legacy Pledge". This
is a promise to take out fishing someone that has not been fishing before, so
that this person may get involed into fishing and then pass it on like you did.
DIRECTOR REPORTS
Classic Series Report:
Mike O’Rourke
Mike told the presidents that the series is all
set and is ready to run. Big Bass Pot will be an optional fee and 100% payback.
Lots of prizes to be given out with a drawing for a $50 Bass Pro gift card on
the second day. There will be a $100 to be given to the top club and a Minn Kota
trolling motor for the AOY. Sponsors making donations of prizes: SolarBat
glasses, Complete batteries, ThermaCELL,SnakDaddy.Red Dragon,Mike’s Rx,Combat
Fishing and Bill McElroy.
Clubs may use any of the tournaments as a club
tournament. We can provide the results for
individual clubs. Pres. Sacks introduced Little
Bill of Little Bills trophies as our new weigh master
State Championship:

The room at Gino’s has been reserved and the
banquet is set, there will also be a picnic after the weigh-in Friday night.
This year all club members are eligible to fish in the state championship. There
are all new rules for the state championship, which you can find on the web
site. We are asking all for help and for help finding a couple of pontoon boat
for the release of the fish.

Paul gave out to the presidents a CD of all the
new changes and also the member’s benefits of being part of the Michigan Bass
federation Nation, they were also given a lot of good federation information and
downloads for most forms. ( Scholarship-rosters, address changes, etc.)

tournament. They are trying to have TV coverage. Our goal is to back this as a

running a casting kids event just remember that it takes 4 to 6 weeks to get a
kit.
Boat Auction:

The boat auction did not draw a single bid. So we
are having Freeway broker it out for us at $16,000 and we should see a profit of
$7,700 out of the sale. The board has voted to let any
Club that finds a buyer for the boat for at least
$16,500.00 will earn at least $500.00 as
a finders fee. This can be a great fund raiser
for a club.
Sponsorship:
Mike Kujawski was announced as our new
sponsorship coordinator. Paul Sacks informed us of some of our new sponsors and
their products (Solar bat sunglasses, Thermacell) and of the three Skeeter
dealers we have (Leaders Marine, Freeway, and Lakedrive).
The new by-law was voted on by the presidents and
passed unanimously.
Paul Sacks told the presidents of the information
of the BCWC and that we only have one club applying so far.
The presidents were informed that we are looking
into selling the current trailer and buying a smaller one
