The 2011 Michigan B.A.S.S. Federation State Championship was a huge success. We had a total of 99 anglers fish the Saginaw Bay tournament. The weather was great, with high heat and a little bit of wind on the first afternoon. Other than that we could not have asked for more beautiful weather. Greg Sochocki managed to pull off a very respectable win with 38.97 pounds of (9) fish, almost 5-1/2 pounds ahead of second place. The other 12 anglers should also be very proud of themselves. They triumphed over the other anglers, some by making some very long runs. This 2012 team will have many seasoned anglers who have been to the Northern Divisional and National Championships several times, with one angler who has even fished the Bassmasters Classic. Our state will as always be well represented. We all wish them the best of luck as they live their dream as they complete at the World’s greatest BASS events, the “CLASSIC”.
The registration meeting and banquet was also a huge success. We had some great food that was catered by Krzyisak’s House right there in Bay City. Everyone commented on the quality of meal as being one of best we ever served. We also want to thank Wendy from the Bay City Visitors and Convention Bureau. The BCVCB helped us make arrangements before the tournament and provided the facilities at the Bay County Community Center. We provided many give-a-way door prizes that were donated by our sponsors. We also provided a great picnic lunch at during the weigh-in on Day 1. Krzyisak’s House did the catering for that also. Everyone got to enjoy Bratwurst, coney’s, salads and cobbler after a long day of fishing.
We want to thank all of our tournament staff for a job well done. Paul Wagner, Camille Delikta, Sharon Leonardi, Dan Wagner and Brandan Wagner all came up just to work the tournament. Lots of others pitched in during the tournament to help with the weigh in. Linwood Beach Marina was our host this year, their staff did a great job of getting the boats all launched each day. They helped out all day with setting up and providing everything we needed to pull off a great tournament. We also want to thank the clubs that stepped up after the tournament to help a tired staff pick up and store all of the tournament equipment back in the trailer. We could not have done it without you all.

Our anglers brought in a huge amount of food, which helped the local community in a time of need.
